Bhubaneswar, Jan, 12: Under the Chief Minister’s Bus Service Scheme, school children will now get free bus services. The proposal from the School and Mass Education Department has been approved by the State Government.
The Transport Department has issued a notification regarding the free bus service. This initiative is a step to reduce school dropout rates and will be implemented in both AC and non-AC bus services.
During bus journeys, students will be required to wear school uniforms and carry their ID cards.
The current bus routes and timetables will be revised, and the revised routes will include roads where the maximum number of schools are located.
