State Government Unveils Vision for ‘Green Odisha by 2036’

Bhubaneswar: With the vision of creating a beautiful and green Odisha, the state government has launched the ‘Vision Odisha 2036’ program, aiming to establish a ‘Green Odisha’ by the year 2036. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, speaking at the event, announced that 10 lakh green livelihoods will be created under this initiative and Odisha will be developed as a model state for eco-tourism.

The highlights of the program include:

Creation of 10 lakh green livelihoods, generating over ₹5,000 crore in income

Forest awards for field workers and the general public

Plantation of 18 lakh palm trees in the current year

7.5 crore saplings to be distributed under the campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (A tree in the name of mother)

The Chief Minister made these remarks while attending the Forest Festival Week celebration held at B.M. High School ground in Old Bhubaneswar as the chief guest.

He further stated that under the ‘Green Odisha’ scheme, more than 100 processing centers will be set up for forest products like sal, tamarind, bamboo, and medicinal plants, aimed at boosting tribal livelihoods. This initiative is expected to generate more than ₹5,000 crore in revenue.
