SS Rajamouli Chooses Odisha’s Koraput for His Next Big Project

Bhubaneswar: Renowned filmmaker SS Rajamouli, celebrated for blockbusters like ‘Baahubali’ and ‘RRR’, has selected Odisha’s Koraput district as a prime location for his forthcoming film, tentatively titled ‘SSMB29’. This high-budget production features South Indian superstar Mahesh Babu and Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra in lead roles.

The film’s shooting is scheduled from March 1 to 28, 2025, across various picturesque locales in Koraput, including Deomali, Talamali, and Machkund. The first schedule will primarily focus on Talamali. In preparation, hotels in the Semiliguda area have been fully booked to accommodate the crew.

Koraput’s breathtaking landscapes have increasingly attracted filmmakers. Recently, actress Anushka Shetty filmed her movie ‘Ghaati’ in locations such as Lamtaput, Machkund, and Anakadeli within the district. Additionally, Tollywood star Venkatesh shot key scenes of ‘Sankranthiki Vasthunam’ at Balda Caves.

The natural beauty, favorable climate, and diverse locations of Koraput have made it a burgeoning hub for film productions, promising to boost the district’s prominence in the cinematic world.
