Nabarangpur:Jan, 19:  Today was a very significant day for the senior citizens of Nabarangpur district. Under the State Government’s Senior Citizens’ Pilgrimage Scheme, four buses carrying selected pilgrims departed today for Ayodhya and Varanasi via Rayagada.

On this occasion, District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain attended as the chief guest and formally flagged off the journey, extending his best wishes to the pilgrims.
For the pilgrims’ health examination, a special medical camp was organised. Senior citizen pilgrims who arrived from different blocks of the district underwent complete health check-ups at the camp.

Doctors examined their blood pressure, physical condition, and general health. After the medical screening, a total of 140 pilgrims were declared medically fit for travel.
After completion of all medical procedures, the pilgrims proceeded on their Ayodhya–Varanasi journey with the support of five escort officers.

The programme was attended by Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Biswajit Chandra Barman, District Social Security Officer Sudhanshu Patra, In-Charge District Tourism Officer Ghasiram Harijan, District Information and Public Relations Officer Manoj Behera, along with Social Security Officers from all blocks.

Through this scheme, senior citizens of Nabarangpur district are gaining a spiritual experience of sacred pilgrimage in their lives. As a result, this initiative of the government has been widely appreciated by the public.
