Bhubaneswar, 29th Aug 2025: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll is set to begin across the state. Ahead of this, the Directorate of Primary Education has directed all District Education Officers (DEOs) to immediately submit the list of teachers appointed as Booth Level Officers (BLOs).
In addition, the list of teachers who have applied online for inter-district transfer has also been sought. A letter has been issued to all DEOs regarding this matter.
According to the directive, the transfer of teachers working as BLOs during the SIR period will be temporarily put on hold.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, in his letter to all departmental heads, has stated that no DEO, ERO, AERO, or BLO—whether teacher or officer—can be transferred without the approval of the Election Commission.
The SIR programme is likely to begin in September. It will include tasks such as house-to-house enumeration, eligibility verification, voter list corrections, and reorganization of polling stations.
