Special Cybersecurity Awareness March Conducted in Nabarangpur

Nabarangpur,25th Oct 2025:  A special awareness march on cybersecurity was organized from Sadashiv Park to the Police Parade Ground in the town of Nabarangpur. The march was arranged by the District Police Department and inaugurated by District Collector Dr. Maheswar Swain and Superintendent of Police Sandeep Sampat.

The march included students from Mahavidyalaya, Smart Gurukul, and Women’s College, as well as officials from various organizations. The event was conducted in Odia language, with wide participation from the community.

In recent times, many people have suffered losses of their hard-earned money due to cyber frauds, and this march was held to create awareness and prevent such crimes following instructions from the state government.

Participants in the march included District Collector Tapan Kumar Khuntia, Deputy Collector Prakash Kumar Mishra, Additional SP Akshak Aditya Kumar Sen, Nabarangpur Officer-in-Charge Sambit Behera, D.I.P.R. Manoj Behera, other police officers, and students.

The awareness campaign focused on different types of cyber frauds, including:

Fake identity and phishing scams

E-commerce refund scams

Fraudulent job offers

Fake and instant loan apps

Parcel scams

Trading scams

Digital arrest frauds

During the march, the District Collector and SP distributed leaflets to shopkeepers and the general public, explaining the risks and preventive measures. People were advised:

Do not share OTPs or PIN numbers

Use strong passwords

Avoid clicking on suspicious links

Be cautious on social media

Practice safe online shopping

In case of financial loss due to cybercrime, citizens were instructed to call the Cyber Helpline 1930 within one hour to report the issue.

The march successfully raised awareness about cyber safety and safe online practices among the general public.
