Nandapur, 30th Oct 2025, A camp for differently-abled persons was organized on Friday at the Nandapur block office premises in Koraput district. Under the chairmanship of BDO Durga Sad Dora, health check-ups were conducted for 255 persons with locomotor disabilities, 78 visually impaired, 46 persons with sickle cell disease, 66 hearing-impaired, and 78 mentally challenged individuals from 23 Panchayats under the block.
Doctors from the district, including Dr. Sujit Sahu, Dr. Sunil Bhatre, Dr. Kishore Sahu, and Dr. S.S. Mishra, along with primary school teacher Santosh Kumar Patra and regional resource center coordinator Gupte Prasad Nag, participated in the camp.
Special guest: Artist Pavitra 64 also attended. Health check-ups were conducted by Chinmay Sahu, Saroj Panda, Lalatendu Mishra, Chandrasekhar Pattnayak, Chakradhar Pradhan, and Sameer Bisoyi.
During the camp, differently-abled individuals were informed that they would receive medical advice, rehabilitation certificates, and assistive devices in the coming days. The camp was managed by Social Security Officer Nagaraju Achari and DEO Chinmay Das, with support from volunteers, project coordinators Jyoti Ranjan Behera, officials from the Women & Child Development Department, Anganwadi workers, health department MHY teams, and Mission Shakti staff.
The event saw participation from 80-year-old certificate holders who were receiving pensions of ₹3,500, and they requested an increase in pensions according to new rules. Doctors were requested to assess and recommend increased disability percentages. The departmental doctors checked beneficiaries and suggested necessary adjustments in certificates.
The camp was also intended to enroll beneficiaries in various government schemes related to skill development, revenue, banking, housing, transport, assistive devices, and social security. Although a benefit counter was planned to distribute aid, it was not opened at the Nandapur BTS camp. Camp participants, including differently-abled men and women, were informed that they could apply for pensions, housing, loans, bus passes, income certificates, and other benefits at the proper counters.
