Jeypore, Nov 24:  Social worker Rajanikant Nayak of Bank Colony passed away in a road accident. While he was travelling on a motorcycle in Redhakhol area of Sambalpur district, a four-wheeler hit him. For the past few months, he had taken Vanaprastha Diksha and was living in an ashram there.

After the news of his death spread, a wave of grief engulfed the town. His relatives have already left for Redhakhol. After the body arrives, the last rites will be performed in Jeypore.

It may be noted that Rajani had earlier worked in the Agriculture Department. As his social service activities were being affected, he had taken VRS two years ago. After that, he joined several organisations and dedicated more time to cow protection. He had played a major role in establishing the local Goshala. He used to visit regularly and oversee its functioning. He was well known as a devout Sanatani.

He was associated with several organisations like RSS, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bharat Sangam, Hindu Samaj, Ram Navami Celebration Committee, Mo Jagannath Sagar Trust, and Public–Police Coordination Committee. Whenever cows or bulls were injured anywhere, he would personally reach the spot and arrange treatment. He had also worked tirelessly for the development of Dengatogi cremation ground.

He formed a trust to work towards the revival of Jagannath Sagar and constantly drew the administration’s attention to its development. In the Ramagiri area of Borigumma block, he helped families who had converted to other religions return to their original faith. Rajani was always seen actively participating in every Hindu event.
