Social Awareness Centre Inaugurated at Malkangiri District Jail During ULLAS Programme

 Malkangiri, 20th Nov 2025:  A Social Awareness Centre has been inaugurated at the Malkangiri District Jail. On the occasion of National Education Day 2025, District Collector Somesh Kumar Upadhyay attended the programme as the chief guest and inaugurated the centre.

Through this centre, illiterate inmates of the district jail will be made literate. Further, inmates who are already literate and educated will be provided skill development training.

The programme was organised under the chairmanship of District Education Officer Chittaranjan Panigrahi. Among others present were District Reserve Inspector Akshak Vinod Patil, the chief speaker; Additional District Education Officer Manjulata Bhoi; Bhagirath Behera; and Jail Superintendent, who all attended as distinguished guests.

Cluster Education Officer Mamata Soe and Assistant Cluster Education Officer cooperated in organising the event.

In the coming days, under the Nava Bharat Literacy Programme, illiterate inmates will be made literate through this centre. The School and Mass Education Department distributed ULLAS books and study materials to all eligible inmates.
