Cuttack, 13th Nov 2025: A skilled driver trained under the Odisha Government’s Driving Training Centre program has achieved international recognition by securing employment abroad. The driver, Rakesh Kumar Das from Kendujhar district, has been selected for employment with Marui Company in Japan.
To prepare him for this opportunity, the Odisha Government partnered with the reputed Indian firm Navis HR Pvt. Ltd. to provide language and cultural training, as well as guidance on Japanese workplace practices. Rakesh expressed happiness over his appointment and extended his gratitude to the State Government, saying that the driving training opportunity brought a major transformation in his life.
The Odisha Government’s Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) operates centers at Chhatia, Palur, and Kendujhar. Rakesh received his training at the Chhatia center, where all expenses — including accommodation, food, and training — are borne by the State Government.
His story is an inspiring example of how an ordinary individual, with government support and personal skill, can take Odisha’s name to the international stage. Many other drivers trained at these centers have also secured employment within Odisha, across India, and abroad.
The Government not only focuses on skill development but also coordinates with reputed organizations to ensure job placements for the trainees. These skilled drivers are making valuable contributions to road safety and the transport sector.
On the occasion of Rakesh’s selection, Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Principal Secretary Usha Padhee, and Transport Commissioner Amitabh Thakur extended their congratulations and best wishes.
