Baliguda, 3rd Nov 2025:  At the Maa Patakhanda Temple, the presiding deity of Baliguda region in Kandhamal district, the temple committee opened the donation boxes (hundis) inside and outside the temple premises on Sunday evening. The process took place in the presence of the committee president Sanyasi Patra, secretary K. Sushanta Kumar Patra, treasurer Maheshwar Dakua, and all other members.

Upon opening the hundis, the committee found ₹66,500 in cash, along with two silver-like ornaments resembling hands and feet and one silver eye, according to the committee’s official statement. All the collected money and items were handed over to Treasurer Mr. Dakua, who was entrusted with securely keeping them in the committee’s official locker.

As the hundis were opened transparently in the presence of committee members, local residents, and police officials, the new temple management committee received appreciation from the local community for maintaining accountability.

Speaking on the occasion, Secretary Mr. Patra stated that since the new committee took charge, they have been publishing monthly reports detailing the temple’s income and expenditure in written form at the temple premises for public awareness and transparency. He further added that the committee is committed to ensuring that all future temple management activities remain error-free and transparent.
