Sunki: A container truck met with an accident this afternoon in the Sunki Ghat area. The truck was carrying cattle, and 46 of them died in the incident. The driver and two other individuals were injured and were admitted to the local community health center. As their conditions were critical, they were later shifted to Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput.
Upon receiving information, the local police led by IIC Bhuj reached the spot and began an investigation. However, they refrained from making any official statements as the inquiry is ongoing.
According to available information, the container truck was transporting more than 60 cattle from the Nabarangpur area towards Andhra Pradesh. In the afternoon, near Raleguda in the Sunki Ghat area on the National Highway, the truck lost balance and veered off the road, leading to the accident. Upon hearing the cries of the cattle, locals rushed to the scene and opened the container, discovering over 60 cattle inside, out of which 46 had died.
The police are currently conducting a rescue and investigation operation into the incident.
