Will the government take special notice of this and allocate sufficient funds in the current financial year to ensure the completion of the restoration and development work of Jagannath Sagar?
Response by Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister, Housing and Urban Development, Odisha:
For the restoration of Jagannath Sagar in Jeypore town, the state government has approved an administrative sanction and technical approval of Rs14,84,68,000.00 under the “Ama Pokhari” scheme. So far, ₹5.60 crore has been provided for the project.
Till now, the complete dewatering of the pond has been carried out, accumulated sludge has been cleaned, and about 37% of the desilting work has been completed.
Steps have been taken to expedite and complete the restoration work of Jagannath Sagar within the current financial year. Additionally, a proposal has been submitted to the Government of India for including this project under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme, following approval from the State High Powered Steering Committee (SHPSC) constituted by the state government.
