Sambalpur: The demolition drive in Sambalpur resumed today after being on hold. The Sahu Colony, Mudipada, and Kumharpada areas saw houses and shops being demolished, including the Mudipada Warehouse near SMC Mudipada Spursh Nasingh Home.
Sahu Colony Market Being Relocated
In Sahu Colony, a club and two-story houses were found encroaching on public roads. Despite this, there was dissatisfaction among local residents about the demolition not being carried out in these areas. Complaints were raised regarding the demolition of Kutia houses and big warehouses in a different manner.

The Sahu Colony market vendors will be relocated to a separate market, as per the decision of SMC, and nearby 5 slum dwellings were demolished. Another 3 slum houses will also be demolished soon. Notices for the demolition of houses in this colony had already been served. In the current market area, several houses received notices for eviction and were vacated by the owners.
The electricity supply arrangements will be made for the market area, as per the officials. Notices have also been issued for the demolition of small houses near the Ramsagar Dam. 4 shops in Kumharpada were demolished today, along with 7 shops in Mudipada. Many of the shopkeepers had previously received notices and had vacated their shops. The remaining shops were removed.
The demolition process will continue in the coming days. During today’s demolition, several socially illegal activities occurring in certain homes were targeted. However, there was dissatisfaction expressed over the exclusion of the club from the demolition.
Club on the Nala will be Demolished, says SMC
Sushant Sahu, the SMC official, stated that no bias would be shown during the demolition process. The tehsildar will carry out the demarcation for the two-story buildings, and the club house, situated on the nala, will definitely be demolished.
