Nabarangpur: Shashank Shekhar Sahu, a member of Gou Fitness Park Gym located in the Nabarangpur Sadar Subdivision, has received official approval from the All India Bodybuilding Federation to participate in international bodybuilding competitions.
He is set to compete in the Mr. Asia contest to be held in Bangkok this August and the Mr. World competition scheduled for November in Indonesia, with the goal of winning medals on the international stage.
On June 2nd and 3rd, 10 participants from Odisha took part in a trial competition held in Pune, organized by the State Bodybuilding Association. Among them, Shashank and three other participants were selected to represent Team India in the upcoming Mr. Asia and Mr. World competitions.
Coach Romeo Patra (pictured right with Shashank) has been assigned as the manager of the Odisha team and will accompany them during the competitions as a representative of India.
The announcement has brought immense joy among the sports enthusiasts and athletes of the district. It’s worth noting that the Romeo–Shashank duo has previously won gold at the state level and silver at the national level competitions. Under the personal mentorship of coach Romeo Patra, Shashank has been training intensively—reportedly 8 hours a day—at the Gou Fitness Park Gym.
