Kotpad: Basanta Shatrushalya, advisor of the Kotpad Senior Citizens’ Forum, passed away at his residence due to a heart attack. He was 76 years old. The late Basanta Shatrushalya was a retired teacher and was actively involved in the promotion of art and culture in Kotpad, as well as in the library movement.
He was especially admired for his remarkable performance in the folk play Vaishalini Haran, which continues to be appreciated by audiences to this day. After retirement, he played a key role in forming the Senior Citizens’ Forum, uniting many elderly individuals and serving as its advisor. He was also actively involved in the formation of the district’s Karan community association.
Following his passing, condolences were expressed across various circles. On behalf of the Senior Citizens’ Forum, President Ashok Patnaik, Secretary Gauri Patnaik, and Vice President Abhimanyu Mallik paid deep tributes, reflecting on his multifaceted talents and offering their heartfelt homage.
