Nabarangpur: Today at 5 PM at the local Mission Shakti premises, 148 pilgrims from Nabarangpur district departed for a pilgrimage to Ayodhya and Varanasi. This is the second phase of the annual pilgrimage under the Senior Citizens Pilgrimage Scheme.
Hon’ble MLA of Dabugaon, Manohar Randhari, attended the event as the chief guest and flagged off the journey, offering his best wishes to the pilgrims. The senior citizens had registered for the scheme from various blocks of the district.
On this occasion, a health check-up was conducted in the morning to determine the eligibility of the pilgrims. Traveling in four buses, the pilgrims departed for Rayagada today. From Rayagada railway station, they will proceed to their destinations tomorrow.
The pilgrims are scheduled to return on April 13, 2025. To ensure their stay, meals, and other facilities, five nodal officers have been appointed: PET teacher Ajit Parija, Dillip Bhanja, Manoranjan Praharaj, Bibasish De, and Satyabrata Panda.
The event also witnessed the presence and support of Nabarangpur MLA representative Debdas Mahakud, District Social Welfare Officer Sudhanshu Patra, District Tourism Officer (In-charge) Ghasia Harijan, and District Information and Public Relations Officer Manoj Kumar Behera.
