Semiliguda, Dec, 09: A significant discussion forum on determining the direction of development and progress of the youth of Koraput district was held today at Semiliguda College. The seminar, titled “The Youth Power of Koraput and the Path of Progress”, was graced by Bhrugu Baksipatra, Chairperson of the South Odisha Development Council and Executive President of the Ukrala Sammilani, as the chief speaker. The programme was held under the chairmanship of the College Principal, Dr. Jhansi Singh.
In his address, Mr. Baksipatra stated that Koraput is a treasure house of resources, including minerals like bauxite and agricultural products such as ragi (mandia), millet (sua), kangu, ginger, turmeric, kakoo, etc. He encouraged the youth to utilize these resources to become entrepreneurs and cited examples of local entrepreneurs like Jagannath Hantal and Khagu Hantal as inspirations.
He further urged the youth to take the lead in safeguarding their region and raise strong voices to present the demands and needs of their area.
In this seminar, lecturers from various departments of the college—including Dr. Subhranshu Sundar Das, Dr. Geeta Pattnayak, Niranjan Podh, Ronali Nayak, Sangeeta Panda, Amisha Padhi, Kamalini Bisoee, Dr. Ramesh Mallik, Lakshmipriya Khara, Bijaylaxmi Dalai, and Rohini Sirika—actively participated.
The event was conducted by English lecturer Shibashis Pattnayak. This programme was organised under the “Gaurav Aam College” initiative. Finally, Economics lecturer Ronali Nayak offered the vote of thanks.
