Baipariguda, 27th Oct 2025: The Khadi Festival was organized by the Society for Health Education and Development Action (SEDA) in Baipariguda. The festival, conducted by all Khadi institutions of India under the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Government of India, began on the 17th of last month and concluded on the 23rd of this month. Today, it was celebrated in Baipariguda.
The event was held on the premises of Shaheed Laxman Nayak Higher Secondary School, with participation from the school’s students. The festival started with a procession of about 400 students around the town. During the event, the Parja Dance troupe from Nuaguda village of Ramgiri Panchayat performed the traditional Dhemsa dance.
The program was attended by Thana Officer Damburudhar Batria as the chief guest, along with Khadi enthusiasts and homeopath Dr. Mahendraprasad Das, and Kunudranjan Maharana, principal of the junior college, who were honored guests. They discussed the various benefits of using Khadi. The guests explained to the students that by using Khadi, a poor spinner and weaver can earn a livelihood, while also fostering patriotism and the spirit of supporting indigenous products.
The event was conducted by Murali Dhar Barad, editor of SEDA. All teachers of the junior college, along with volunteers Santosh Pattnayak and Lachhman Majhi, provided active support for the program.
