Security Concern: CCTV Cameras Malfunctioning in Nandapur

Nandapur,: The 14 CCTV cameras installed in Nandapur block headquarters as part of a joint effort by the district administration and the police department to monitor criminal activities, catch offenders, and maintain law and order have been non-functional for a long time. Despite complaints about their malfunctioning and the need for repairs being raised in public hearings for over six months, no action has been taken to fix them.

The rise in theft cases in the tourist hub of Nandapur block headquarters is reportedly linked to the non-functional CCTV cameras. On Friday morning, a resident of Sushant Bhandari Sahi, Subebatta Barsha, lodged a complaint at the Nandapur police station regarding the theft of a water motor from his house. Previously, multiple incidents of theft had been reported, including stolen motors from government and private institutions, thefts from mobile shops, snatching of gold chains from women, and vehicles falling into accidents. These incidents have raised concerns for the police.

The district administration and police department have been urged by local intellectuals to immediately repair the dysfunctional CCTV cameras to ensure the safety and law enforcement in Nandapur block headquarters, which is also a tourist destination.
