Seaplane Service to Link Chilika and Puri from October

Bhubaneswar, 1st Sept 2025: A new seaplane service is set to begin in Odisha from October, offering connectivity between Chilika Lake, Puri, and several other destinations across India. This service will also connect the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh.

The service will be operational at 22 airports across Odisha, enhancing regional air connectivity. Notably, Puri will soon have its own operational airport—Jagannath Airport—making travel to this spiritual hub even more accessible.

The seaplane service is expected to significantly boost tourism, especially in areas like Chilika, which is known for its picturesque landscapes and biodiversity, as well as Puri, a prominent pilgrimage destination. This initiative will make it easier for travelers to explore the coastal regions of Odisha and beyond.

With such strategic infrastructure upgrades, Odisha is gearing up to become a more connected and accessible destination for both domestic and international tourists.
