Baipariguda, 21st Nov 2025: In recent years, the science fair in Baipariguda block seems to have lost its public appeal. Day by day, the event appears to be drifting away from the general public. Even though the Central and State Governments emphasize science education, the implementation at the grassroots level remains weak.
While earlier all schools under the block participated in the block-level science fair with their science projects, in the past few years the number of participating schools has reduced significantly. Previously, during the science fair, students from all schools, along with local villagers and people from distant places, used to gather in large numbers to witness the science exhibits. However, due to a lack of proper publicity and promotion, attendance has drastically fallen.
Currently, only a handful of teachers and students from one or two schools attend the event, making the fair far less vibrant than before. The block-level science fair was conducted inside the premises of the Government High School, Baipariguda. Block Chairman Prashant Kumar Gupta graced the event as the Chief Guest.
A total of 97 students from 65 schools participated in the fair with their science projects. When the BEO (Block Education Officer) was asked about the declining engagement, he stated that efforts would be made in the future to ensure the participation of more schools and students, and this matter would be given due attention.
