Schools to Function as Cyclone Shelters; Teachers Assigned Roster Duty

Bhubaneswar,28th Oct 2025:  : Preparations have begun in schools and the Department of Mass Education in anticipation of the possible cyclone. During the cyclone, schools will be used as shelters. Where necessary, mid-day meal rice meant for students will be utilized for people affected by the cyclone. Teachers will be assigned roster duty. The Sub-Collector (Emergency) of Khordha has been informed about these preparations, which have been made by the District Education Officer of Khordha.

The report submitted by the Khordha District Education Officer states that 1,401 government, government-aided, and Odisha Adarsha schools in the district have been prepared for the possible cyclone. All facilities, including electricity, drinking water, and toilets, have been ensured. Where necessary, these schools will be used as cyclone shelters. All teachers have been instructed to perform their duties and responsibilities, and they have been made aware of their specific tasks.

At all school levels, mid-day meal rice will be kept in adequate quantities. This will be used for cooking for people taking shelter if needed. During the cyclone, teachers will perform roster duty. Similarly, in districts such as Ganjam and Kendrapara, all government employees’ leaves have been canceled by the administration.
