Schools in Odisha Fail to Follow Summer Vacation Orders

Bhubaneswar: Despite clear government orders, some schools across Odisha — including in Bhubaneswar — are reportedly not adhering to the summer vacation guidelines. After receiving several complaints from various parts of the state, the School and Mass Education Department has taken serious note of the situation.

The department had issued directives on April 22, instructing all schools to remain closed in view of the intense heatwave conditions. However, it has come to light that some schools have violated these orders, and action will be taken immediately against them. District Education Officers (DEOs) have been directed to enforce strict compliance with the orders.

The department emphasized that all schools — government and private — were instructed to shut down from April 23 onward due to the heat. This closure includes Anganwadi centres, pre-schools, and institutions up to Class 12. The department has warned of strict action against schools failing to comply with these directives.
