Brahmapur,27th Oct 2025: In view of the possible cyclone ‘Mokta’, all government officers and employees’ leaves have been cancelled until October 30. Everyone has been directed to remain in their headquarters, and those already on leave have been asked to immediately return to duty. This evening, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari reviewed the preparedness through a video conference. The Ganjam District Collector joined the meeting from the Khallikote Block Office. Afterwards, the Collector chaired another video meeting with district-level officials from Chhatrapur to discuss cyclone preparedness.
There is a forecast of heavy rainfall in Ganjam district. Officials have been instructed to prioritize the safety of lives and property and to ensure zero casualty.
Fishermen have been strictly prohibited from venturing into the sea.
Rainfall is expected in the district from tomorrow. An Orange Warning has been issued for the period from Monday to Tuesday morning, and a Red Warning will remain in force from Tuesday morning to Wednesday.

A total of 110 multipurpose cyclone and flood shelters, including school buildings, have been prepared for emergency use. Public awareness activities are being conducted, and control rooms are being opened at both block and district levels. Representatives at urban and panchayat levels have formed WhatsApp groups for coordination. Fire services and ODRAF teams have been kept on alert. Officials will maintain close surveillance over the Kalinga Ghat area.
Nodal officers have been appointed for each coastal panchayat. Pregnant women living in low-lying areas will be shifted to safer places starting tomorrow. Dry food and cooked meals have been stocked at the cyclone shelters.
The Collector also stated that show-cause notices will be issued to any officer who was absent from today’s review meeting or has left headquarters without permission. The meeting was attended by ADM Pramod Prusty, Debabrata Panda, Sunil Kerketa, and other departmental officials.
For safety reasons, all beaches in the district will remain closed to tourists for three days starting tomorrow, and hotel bookings for visitors have been suspended.
