School Students to Receive Nutritious Laddu as Part of Health Initiative

Bhubaneswar Under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Yojana, school students will be provided nutritious laddus. Starting from April 1, students from Classes 1 to 10 will receive millet-based laddus every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

The ingredients for these laddus will cost Rs3.24, while the preparation cost is 26 paise per laddu. Between April and July 2023, training was provided to cooks and assistants on making millet laddus as part of a skill development program.

Additionally, under the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Mid-Day Meal Scheme, students from Classes 1 to 10 will now receive three eggs per week starting from April 1. Currently, students receive two eggs per week on Wednesdays and Saturdays, but from April, they will also get an extra egg on Fridays.

These benefits will be extended to all government and government-aided schools. The laddus will be prepared by trained cooks and assistants using ragi flour (millet flour), jaggery, peanuts, ghee, sesame seeds, and Gujarati spices to ensure a healthy and nutritious meal for students.
