Umarkote School & Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond on Tuesday launched the Chief Minister Nutrition Scheme, under which all school children will receive nutritious millet laddus. Additionally, students of Classes 9 and 10 will be provided midday meals.
The scheme was inaugurated at Government Girls’ High School and Swami Vivekananda High School in Umarkote. As part of the program, students from Classes 1 to 10 at both schools were served laddu made from millets. The state government prioritizes nutrition for students’ mental and cognitive development. To ensure this, every school child will receive millet laddus, the minister announced.
Under this scheme, students of Classes 9 and 10 across the state will receive nutritious midday meals along with millet laddus three days a week. The initiative aims to benefit around 10.8 lakh students across Odisha. Expressing gratitude, students of the Government Girls’ High School thanked the Chief Minister and the Education Minister.

During the event at Government Girls’ High School, Umarkote, Minister Nityananda Gond personally served and shared midday meals with students. The event was attended by state BJP secretary Ramesh Chandra Sahu, Minister’s representative Ashok Padhi, MP representative Ram Nayak, Ashok Sahu, District Education Officer Chhatrapati Sahu, school principal Asim Biswas, BEO Ishwar Majhi, ABEO Purushottam Majhi, and teachers Pradeep Biswas, Naveen Biswas, Madhuri Bishoyi, Shraddhanjali Sahu, Satyaranjan Majhi, Namita Panda, Gayatri Pradhan, Shubhechhamayi Singh Barik, among others.
