‘Run for Unity’ Held to Mark National Unity Day

Nabarangpur, 3rd Nov 2025:  On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, and the observance of National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas), the district administration and police department jointly organized a Unity Run in Nabarangpur.

Students from various schools, youth organization members, and officials actively participated in the event. The run began from Sadashiv Tripathy Park and concluded at the Police Parade Ground.

District Collector Dr. Maheshwar Swain attended the program as the chief guest, while Superintendent of Police (SP) Madkar Sandeep Sampad was present as the guest of honor. The run was ceremonially flagged off by them.

Among other dignitaries present were Additional District Collector (General) Tapan Khuntia, Additional District Collector (Revenue) Biswajit Chandra Barman, Additional SP Aditya Sen, Deputy SP Krishna Chandra Bhatra, IIC of Nabarangpur Police Station Sambit Behera, District Information and Public Relations Officer Manoj Behera, District Sports Officer Sushant Kumar Nayak, Sameer Kumar Patra, Additional Labour Officer Bharat Sahu, and Joint Secretary of the District Sports Association Manoj Kumar Pattnayak.

After the run, a meeting was held in the Police Parade Ground premises. Religious leaders from different faiths attended the meeting as guests and shared messages of brotherhood and unity.

Representing different religions were Raj Purohit Narasingha Tripathy (Hindu community), Mohammad Hammad Raja from the Nabarangpur Jama Masjid (Muslim community), and Rev. Bablin Bishoyi (Christian community). They emphasized the importance of communal harmony and national unity.

Addressing the gathering, District Collector Dr. Swain stated that the unity among people of all religions in the district is a matter of great pride and honor. SP Sandeep Sampad also expressed that India’s progress is rooted in the unity of its diverse faiths.

Intellectual Kunjabihari Das delivered a talk on the life and contributions of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event was coordinated by Manoj Kumar Pattnayak.

In conclusion, all participants took a pledge to uphold the integrity and unity of the nation.

The program was successfully organized with the active cooperation of Deputy Collectors Ashutosh Patra, Vinayak Khandanga, and Shiv Shankar Padhi, Representative Deputy Collector Sameer Patra, Excise Inspector Dillip Rath, Niranjan Nayak, and several officers of the district police administration.
