RTI Admission Applications to Begin from 18th as Govt Revises Notification

Bhubaneswar: Following a hunger strike by the Odisha Parents’ Association over alleged discrepancies in admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act in private schools, the government has revised its previous notification.

According to the amended notification issued by the Directorate of Primary Education, the first phase of admission registration will take place from April 18 to April 20. Block Education Officers will conduct verification between April 3 and April 23, and the final merit list will be published on April 24.

The second round of registration will be conducted from May 9 to May 20, with verification completed by May 23 and the final list published on May 26. The second phase of admissions will begin on May 27.

The entire admission process is directed to be completed by June 10. The Odisha Parents’ Association has welcomed this decision and has also demanded strict measures to ensure that private schools do not impose arbitrary conditions during the admission process.

Students selected by April 24 will have their names listed in the merit list, while the second phase of admissions will follow thereafter.
