Jeypore: The municipal body is moving forward with a renewed focus on urban development. Priority is being given to construction and repair of roads, drains, culverts, and community centers. An ambitious action plan for this year has been prepared. Administrative approval has been granted for 174 projects, with an estimated cost of Rs16.65 crore. According to Municipal Engineer Ajay Kumar Jani, work will commence soon after the tender process is completed.
According to information from the municipality, following the approval in the council meeting, all 174 projects have been sanctioned. The highest value of a single project is Rs30 lakh, while the lowest is just Rs1.5 lakh.
Major planned works include:
Repair and restoration of the RCC drain at Gayababu Street
Construction of Haribabu Colony Road
Renovation and maintenance of community centers
Paver blocks will be installed in Ghasta area, and cement plates will be placed over open drains. A mini-conference hall will be constructed at the municipal office at a cost of ₹10 lakh. Other initiatives include:
Improvement of open space on hills
Installation of parks and gyms
Construction of community toilets at Chiliguda
Boundary wall for indoor stadium

Engineer Mr. Jani emphasized that focus will be placed on stormwater drainage, roadwork, drain construction, and community centers. Special projects include:
Drain repair and restoration in Ward No. 18
Renovation of Basantami Kalyan Mandap and various community centers
Upkeep of 23 Kalyan Mandaps across different wards
Due to open drains in some areas, people are dumping plastic and household waste, leading to blockages. As a remedy, cement plates will be placed over such drains. Roads and culverts will also be constructed.
Work will begin immediately after the finalization of tenders. Emphasis will be placed on completing projects within the stipulated time. Some works from the 2024–25 financial year remain unfinished. Contractors have been instructed to complete them immediately.
A list of defaulting contractors is currently being prepared, and recommendations for action will be made against them.
