Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: The State Government has intensified efforts for the development of Kotia in Koraput district, which lies along the Andhra Pradesh border. A comprehensive “Kotia Development” blueprint has been prepared to ensure that residents of this tribal-dominated region receive all government benefits and facilities.
Under this plan, an investment of Rs290.44 crore will be made in the area. The Revenue Department has assigned responsibilities to 20 departments for implementation. On January 17, Additional Secretary of the Revenue Department, Madhusmita Sahu, wrote to the concerned departments directing them to submit an immediate action plan for the allocation of funds, based on the high-level meeting chaired by Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari following his visit to the region with a delegation.
According to official information:
The Agriculture Department will spend Rs1.58 crore to promote vegetable and maize cultivation in about 50 locations.
The Energy Department will create infrastructure worth Rs7.19 crore to provide electricity connections to needy families.
The Forest and Environment Department will spend Rs70 lakh.
The Health Department will spend Rs4.41 crore.
The Home Department will allocate Rs45 lakh.
The Horticulture Department will invest Rs8.25 crore to strengthen livelihoods.
Mission Shakti will spend Rs7 crore.
ORMAS will allocate Rs1.54 crore.
The Panchayati Raj Department will spend Rs44 crore.
Rs 40.37 crore will be invested in roads and building infrastructure.
The Rural Water Supply Department will allocate Rs 33.45 crore.
The School and Mass Education Department will spend Rs40 crore.
The Soil Conservation Department will invest Rs2.86 crore.
The ST & SC Development Department will allocate Rs32 crore.
The Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department will spendRs55 lakh.
The Animal Resources Department will allocate Rs4.85 crore.
The Women and Child Development Department will spend Rs4.57 crore.
Around Rs17 crore will be invested in other sectors.
It has been noted that Kotia currently faces five major challenges. Network connectivity remains poor in many areas. Land surveys in 21 villages are yet to be completed, and Aadhaar cards of many residents have not been properly linked to various government schemes. The letter emphasizes that strengthening infrastructure in the region is the immediate priority to ensure effective implementation of development initiatives.
