Rohit Pujari Appointed as BJD District President in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Rohit Pujari has been announced as the BJD (Biju Janata Dal) District President for Sambalpur. This marks the fourth time Rohit has taken on this responsibility. With the upcoming three-tier Panchayat elections and the declaration expected soon, his appointment holds significance.

In the 2009 general elections, Rohit left the Congress party and joined BJD, contesting as a candidate from the Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency. Although he was defeated in that election,

Elections for Sambalpur Municipal Corporation will also be held. In this context, the responsibility is a challenge for Rohit. He stated that during this term, his work will not be limited to elections only but will focus on solving public issues, gaining recognition for the Sambalpuri language, and developing Bhimsar.

The party had entrusted him with the role of District BJD President back in 2010. He served two consecutive terms in this important role. During his tenure, the party achieved success in the 2014 Assembly elections from Sambalpur for the first time, alongside the Zilla Parishad. However, before his term ended,

Pramod Rath and later Siddharth Das were appointed as District Presidents. Despite strong opposition, Rohit was reappointed as District President just before the 2024 elections. Currently, BJD is not in power. It remains to be seen how Rohit manages the party while in opposition and whom he includes in the new committee.

It is notable that factional disputes have long been a major problem for BJD. Even after losing the elections, the situation has not improved. Both Rohit and Siddharth Das have conducted several parallel programs representing different factions. District President
