Restructuring of Horticulture Cadre Creates 284 New Posts

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi approved a proposal for the restructuring of posts in the Fisheries and Horticulture Departments. Aimed at achieving rapid growth in the fisheries and horticulture sectors, the state government has decided to increase the number of officers in both cadres.

As per the new decision, the number of posts in the Fisheries Service Cadre has increased from 618 to 835, resulting in the creation of 217 new posts. Most of these positions are at the field level, aiming to make Odisha self-sufficient in fish production. The state has set a target to produce 33 lakh metric tonnes of fish annually by 2036.

This restructuring will ensure that more officers are available from the field level to the district and state levels, thereby accelerating fisheries development.

Similarly, the Horticulture Department has undergone restructuring with the creation of 67 new posts, increasing the total from 403 to 470. It is hoped that this move will lead to significant development in the horticulture sector as well.
