Red Cross Society Holds General Meeting in Nabarangpur District

Nabarangpur:A general meeting of the district-level Indian Red Cross Society, Nabarangpur branch, was held at the Mission Shakti Conference Hall, under the chairmanship of Dr. Shubankar Mohapatra, District Collector and President of the District Branch of the Indian Red Cross Society.

At the outset, all the members present were briefed on the core principles and ideals of the Red Cross. The philosophy of “Serving humanity is serving God” was emphasized, highlighting that service is the prime ideal of the Red Cross, which always extends a helping hand to the poor and distressed. The Red Cross upholds the values of peace, friendship, and love, and promotes humanitarianism through mutual understanding, cooperation, and solidarity in society. It is an organization of compassionate individuals who voluntarily dedicate their lives to the service and welfare of society. There is no compulsion here—only the greatness of voluntary service that flows from the heart.

Secondly, the Additional District Magistrate, Mr. Tapan Kumar Khuntia, presented the income and expenditure report for the fiscal year 2024–2025, which was unanimously approved by the house. The District Collector, Dr. Mohapatra, expressed satisfaction over the hundred percent Red Cross membership enrollment by various educational institutions and departmental officers. He also advised those officials who have not yet submitted the expected Red Cross membership fee to do so at the District Emergency Section at the earliest. However, he expressed dissatisfaction over the less-than-expected growth in the number of lifetime Red Cross members and stressed the need to increase Red Cross membership revenue.

Also in attendance were chairpersons and heads of various private educational institutions, district-level officials, Tehsildars, Group Development Officers, Child Development Project Officers, and various departmental officers. The entire staff of the District Emergency Subdivision was also present and supported the smooth conduct of the program. The meeting was coordinated by Ms. Chandana Mallik.
