Rayagada,: In an effort to catch passengers traveling without tickets, railway authorities have been conducting thorough ticket inspections for all seated passengers. During one such inspection, it was observed that some ticketless travelers had locked themselves inside the train toilets to avoid being caught. With no other option left, the ticket examiner had to wait near the toilet to catch them. This unusual scene became a topic of discussion for some time.

According to reports, this special ticket-checking campaign began on March 19. By April 24, a total of 3,368 cases had been registered and a fine of around ₹17 lakh had been collected. An officer mentioned that new directives have been issued to impose heavier fines on those found hiding inside toilets during inspections.

The campaign is a joint initiative of the Commercial Department of the Waltair Division and the Railway Protection Force (RPF). A notable incident occurred today on the Junagadh Express train traveling from Vizianagaram to Rayagada, particularly in the general compartment, where such a dramatic scene was witnessed.
