Ranpur,Dec, 03:  The Ranpur Retired Government Employees’ Association organized a felicitation ceremony and Senior Citizen ID Card distribution program on Monday afternoon at the Ranpur NAC Kalyan Mandap.

Guests and Program Highlights

The event was graced by:

Chief Guest: Surama Padhi, MLA of Ranpur and Deputy Speaker

Chief Speaker: Chittikanta Pradhan (SDPO, Sarankul)

Distinguished Guests: Ranjan Mahanti (Chairperson, Ranpur Notified Area Council), Ashish Dev Sahu (IIC, Ranpur Police Station)

All the dignitaries addressed the gathering and distributed Senior Citizen ID Cards to about 48 beneficiaries.

Speaking on the occasion, the IIC said that senior citizens are friends and advisors of the police. SDPO Chittikanta Pradhan emphasized that every senior citizen should keep the contact numbers of police officers handy for safety and assistance.

Association’s Demands and Assurances

General Secretary Pramod Kumar Lenka read out the association’s annual report and presented several key demands, including:

Permanent land patta for the association

Electricity connection for the association building

Water supply from the NAC

Responding to this, NAC Chairperson Ranjan Mahanti assured that if an application is submitted to the PHED office, water supply can be arranged.

MLA and Deputy Speaker Surama Padhi informed that efforts are already underway to secure permanent land for the association. She also expressed her interest in becoming a member of the association and proposed steps to increase the association’s membership.

She further invited the association’s members to attend the upcoming Legislative Assembly session, encouraging their participation.

Event Management and Participation Issues

Association President Debi Prasad Samantaray and Secretary Udayanath Das welcomed the guests with traditional shawls and flower bouquets.
The stage was managed by Prashant Kumar Mishra, who conducted the proceedings smoothly.

The event was supported by Vice-President Pramod Kumar Das, Joint Secretary and Treasurer Udayanath Das, and other members, ensuring the program’s success.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by President Debi Prasad Samantaray.

Low Attendance Noted

Although the association has around 300 members, only 50–60 members attended the event, which reportedly disappointed the Deputy Speaker.
