Jeypore, : The Rabi procurement mandi, which was supposed to begin in a few days, has now been postponed. A specific date for the mandi opening had been decided during the District Procurement Committee (DAPC) meeting. However, the plan has been deferred, and no new date has yet been finalized, informed District Supply Officer Pradeep Kumar Panda.
Citing reasons such as rainfall due to low pressure and the Agriculture Department’s report on paddy harvesting, Panda stated that the decision to postpone the mandi was made accordingly. Earlier, it had been decided in the DAPC meeting to open the mandi on the 25th. Based on the assumption that harvesting had been completed in Kundura block, the inauguration was scheduled to take place there. However, as per the Agriculture Department’s latest report, only 20% of the paddy has been harvested in that block.
