Jeypore,Millers from Balangir will participate in the Rabi mandi. In the first phase, the State Supply Corporation has permitted seven mills to lift paddy from the mandi. Permission has been granted to those millers who had returned 100% rice against the paddy lifted during the Kharif season. According to departmental sources, this number may increase in the coming days.
The mills permitted to lift paddy are:
Julaji Pendusing of Belpada
Gayatri Food Product Processing
Ananta Penthi Product
Ananta Agro
Swapna Paddy Processing
Rashmi Rice Mill of Patnagarh
The Rabi mandi is set to begin from the 25th of this month. However, millers from Koraput district will not be participating. The State Supply Commissioner and District Administration were informed in this regard. Many millers are still waiting to complete milling of the paddy lifted during the Kharif season.
As the Supply Department is not collecting rice currently, thousands of quintals of paddy remain stored in mills. Millers have expressed that taking more paddy from the Rabi mandi would create logistical problems.
Upon learning that Koraput millers will not participate, the State Supply Corporation took the necessary steps. Intent letters were sent to Balangir millers to lift paddy from the Koraput Rabi mandi. The Balangir millers have agreed to transport paddy from Koraput to Balangir at government-approved rates.
Paddy will be lifted based on the milling capacity and storage arrangements of the respective mills.
