Korukonda , Dec, 29: R. Bijay Kumar assumed charge as the new Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Malkangiri Sadar Korukonda Police Station in Malkangiri district on Thursday.
The previous Officer-in-Charge, Himanshu Sekhar Barik, has been transferred to the Malkangiri District Police Office. Accordingly, R. Bijay Kumar has been transferred from the Malkangiri Police Headquarters to the Korukonda Police Station by the police administration.
The new OIC stated that all possible efforts will be made to curb crimes such as theft, robbery, and other criminal activities, including illegal ganja (cannabis) smuggling, in all areas under the jurisdiction of the Korukonda Police Station. He also said that regular vehicle checking will be conducted in the area, and strict legal action will be taken against vehicle owners and drivers who violate traffic laws by riding or driving illegally.
R. Bijay Kumar, the newly appointed Officer-in-Charge, has been warmly welcomed by people from various sections of society.
