Jharigaon– The PWD department constructed the road from Dhamanaguda to Jharigaon. Due to land issues, the road construction from Jharigaon for about two kilometers could not be completed. After resolving the land dispute, road construction with culverts was done in the last two months. However, due to the rain, the soil has eroded, and the pitch road has been damaged.
After seeing such a condition, local people have raised questions regarding the quality of the road work. They demand an investigation into how the road got damaged despite spending crores of rupees on construction.
The road construction work from Dhamanaguda chowk to Jharigaon, approximately 30 kilometers, was ongoing under the PWD department. But the section of about two kilometers from Jharigaon could not be constructed earlier due to land disputes.
After resolving the land issue, the department completed the road work and culvert construction in the last two months. However, due to improper work, both the pitch road and soil near the culverts have eroded during the rains.
It is alleged that due to soil subsidence, the pitch road on both sides near the culverts has sunk, increasing the risk of accidents anytime. The road got damaged within two months of completion, leading to public dissatisfaction about the quality of the road work.
If the administration does not take immediate steps to fix this, there is a fear that during the ongoing rains, the entire road could get completely destroyed, and vehicle movement could come to a halt.
Therefore, there is a demand for the administration to take urgent corrective action.
It is noted that after the reconstruction of the Jharigaon-Dhamanaguda road, nearly the people of Chandahandi and Jharigaon blocks depend on this road to travel to Nabarangpur. The road has no traffic issues and vehicles can reach Dabugaon quickly, so almost all vehicle traffic is always on this road.
