Semiliguda, 8th Nov 2025: Koraput district attracts a large number of tourists during the winter season. This year, the Tourism Department is organizing the Putsil Eco-Retreat. For the fifth time, the Eco-Retreat is set to begin, opening for tourists from November 15. Preparations for the inauguration have been carried out in full swing.

A temporary camp was set up for tourists on the Putsil hills in the Purvaghat mountain range. The Eco-Retreat premises include 7 premium and 21 deluxe rooms, along with an independent bar. Two viewpoints have been constructed for tourists, and tent construction work is ongoing.

Every year, due to the increasing number of tourists, advance bookings get filled quickly. The Eco-Retreat is being managed on a lease basis by an organization from outside the state. However, local residents do not receive any benefits from the Eco-Retreat. Therefore, locals have demanded a change of location. Over the past five years, local residents have not received any benefits from this initiative.

People have expressed dissatisfaction, noting that only the organization holding the lease is profiting. If the location of this temporary resort were changed each year and established near different tourist spots, local employment could increase, and it could attract more tourists. This issue has drawn the attention of the district administration.
