Nandapur: A public awareness and hearing program was conducted by the Block Administration on Monday at Kularsing Panchayat in the absence of elected representatives. Although the Panchayat Sarpanch, Samiti members, and Ward members were informed about the hearing, none of them attended, despite being present in the Panchayat premises. This has become a topic of discussion in the Nandapur block.
The public hearing camp, chaired by BDO Durga Prasad Dora, was attended by:
Group Health Center Superintendent Dubaraj Murmu
Assistant Education Officer Mamtaj Gomang
Rural Water Supply Engineer Kahucharana Sethy
Officials from Agriculture, Horticulture, Women & Child Development departments
Anganwadi and health workers, Mission Shakti CRP, MBK, and other department representatives
During the hearing, eight complaint letters were submitted to the BDO by the villagers. However, complaints registered in previous public hearings remain unresolved. As a result, the Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) has been transferred. Although the Panchayat Engineer was transferred two months ago, no new appointment has been made yet, delaying developmental works.
Elected Representatives Absent from Public Hearing
There were allegations that the elected Sarpanch, Samiti members, and Ward members were deliberately absent from the hearing. Despite repeated complaints, 35 PDS card beneficiaries have not yet received their entitlements, causing public dissatisfaction.
Sarpanch Bhagavati Kirshani stated that although all elected representatives were present in the Panchayat premises, they did not attend the hearing meeting. When questioned about this issue, BDO Dora responded that prior notice was given to everyone about the public hearing. He added that as organizers, their responsibility is to conduct the hearing and address complaints, not to track who attends or does not.
