Nabarangpur,23rd Sept 2025: The Nabarangpur Action Committee held a journalists’ conference at the local Trupti Lodge demanding the formation of a new state by carving out the undivided Koraput district. The conference was chaired by convener Lalit Mohan Nayak. Present at the meeting were lawyer Ramprasad Patra, Manasita Takri, Anarkali Kuldeep, advisor Gnanendra Pattnayak, treasurer Ranjan Karmika, organization editor Sanatan Dash, S.D. Sudhir Patra, Abdul Sattar, Tinku Jain, and others.
A meeting was held in May on the 10th in Jaypur regarding the demand for the formation of the new state. After that meeting, a committee on August 25 submitted a memorandum to the President, Prime Minister, and Home Minister, according to convener Mr. Nayak.
The language and culture of the undivided Koraput district are entirely distinct. The government earns a profit of Rs. 7,500 crore from four hydroelectric projects. The Rayagada and Koraput districts are rich in mineral resources. Despite this, the development of undivided Koraput district has not progressed. The condition of education, health, and transportation is deplorable. Due to the absence of district-based appointments, the number of vacancies is increasing.
Outsiders from other states are exploiting the farmers in the agricultural sector. Because of medical problems, people depend on hospitals in Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Bhubaneswar, or even more modern hospitals in Cuttack. The number of illegal entrants in undivided Koraput is also increasing. The border dispute has been ongoing for many days.
Mr. Nayak stated that because of the need to preserve traditional culture, dance, music, and economic security, there is a necessity for an independent identity. Therefore, the formation of a new state is essential.
