Bhubaneswar, 22nd July 2025: Rabi Behera, Secretary of the Odisha State Electricity Consumers’ Federation, has written a letter to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi , demanding 200 units of free electricity for all residents of the state.
Behera pointed out that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recently announced 125 units of free electricity for the people of Bihar, to be implemented from August 1. In contrast, he lamented that despite being a power-producing state, Odisha does not provide any free electricity to its consumers.
He further reminded that before coming to power, the BJP had promised free electricity to the people of Odisha. However, even after 13 months in government, this promise has not been fulfilled. The Federation has questioned when the government will finally provide free electricity to the people, as promised.
