PT-SMDC Meetings Organised Across Malkangiri Schools

Malkangiri, 9th Aug 2025: – Second round meetings of the Parent-Teacher-School Management and Development Committees were successfully held across 1,166 government and government-aided schools in Malkangiri district. A total of 46,077 parents and school management committee members participated in these meetings.

Key topics discussed included the implementation of the “Aas School Jiba” (Let’s Go to School) campaign, ensuring a safe environment for students, raising awareness on the safety and security of girl students, promoting the “One Tree for Mother – 2.0” initiative, and improving menstrual hygiene facilities in schools with the installation of incinerators and sanitary vending machines.

Other agendas involved maintaining cleanliness and hygiene under the Swachhata Paksha 2025 and Surabhi 2025 campaigns, distribution of uniforms and footwear, the role of parents in shaping students’ careers, and discussions around facilities for students with disabilities.

The meetings emphasized the active role of both parents and teachers in the holistic development of school education. Constructive proposals were invited from parents to further strengthen school functioning.

The “Aas School Jiba” campaign aims to:

  • Bring back children who have dropped out of school
  • Enroll out-of-school children in age-appropriate classes
  • Retain enrolled students and prevent further dropouts
  • Improve learning outcomes and reduce learning gaps

These meetings were conducted smoothly across all schools under the guidance of District Education Officer Chittaranjan Panigrahi and oversight of SC/ST Coordinator Shesha Shankar Mahalik.

Representatives of the Piramal Foundation also participated and supported the process.
