Pipili: Villagers of Raygurpur under Sahajpur Panchayat gheraoed the Pipili Block Education Officer’s (BEO) office on Monday, demanding the cancellation of a female teacher’s transfer. In Raygurpur Primary School, which offers classes from Grade 1 to 5, three teachers were appointed to teach the students. With the transfer of one female teacher, dissatisfaction arose among the villagers.
Demanding the immediate cancellation of the transfer, some villagers staged a protest and gheraoed the BEO office at Pipili block square on Monday. They questioned how just two teachers could handle teaching all five classes. Pipili BEO Rabindranath Nanda held discussions with the villagers and accepted a written memorandum of their demands, after which the agitation was called off.
