Malkangiri, Jan, 08: Deputy Commandant Debesh Ranjan Pradhan of the 4th Special Security Battalion stated that protecting people’s lives and property along with safeguarding the environment is a collective responsibility. He said that the responsibility of ensuring the safety of life and property of the citizens of the country, the state, and every district has been entrusted to government security forces such as the CRPF, CoBRA, BSF, the 4th Special Security Battalion, police, and home guards.

He emphasized that fulfilling the responsibility of protecting lives and property is the primary duty of all jawans serving under these departments. He was speaking at a tree plantation programme organized near the district headquarters area of Malkangiri.
Deputy Commandant Pradhan further said that due to climate change, natural disasters such as untimely rainfall, cyclones, earthquakes, lightning, and floods are increasingly causing large-scale loss of life and property. Keeping this in view, tree plantation drives are being carried out in the premises of the 4th Special Security Battalion camp near MV-3 village.

With the support of Saha Charitable Trust, whose president Jiban Baba has been providing valuable saplings every year since 2021 to various special security force campuses across the state, jawans have been actively participating in plantation activities. So far, more than 8,000 saplings of various species have been planted, Deputy Commandant Pradhan informed.

Those present at the programme included Assistant Commandant Suresh Chandra Patra, INS Naveen Kujur, SI Parija, Havildar Rakesh Kumar Sonu Raut, Samir Parida, Nayak, SI Ishwal, among others. On the occasion, over 500 saplings were planted.
Deputy Commandant Pradhan expressed confidence that within the next three years, the entire camp परिसर will be transformed into a lush green, beautiful, and eco-friendly area through sustained plantation efforts.
