Balimela, 13th Sept 2025: : In Malkangiri district, despite receiving official promotion orders, nearly 138 male and female health workers have still not been given new postings by the district administration.
According to reports, through letter no. 2073 dated 21/02/2025 and letter no. 3229 dated 11/03/2025, the district had approved the promotion of around 138 health workers. However, in a surprising turn of events, these workers have not yet received their postings as per the promotion orders.
Based on the recommendations of the Promotion Committee meetings held on 04/03/2025 and 19/02/2025, male and female MPHWs (Multi-Purpose Health Workers) Level-2 and Multi Health Workers Level-1 were to be promoted to Level-9, with a revised pay scale starting from ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400, along with applicable DA and other allowances under RSP Rules 2017.
The promotion was supposed to be effective from the date the employees begin their duties in the promoted position. Meanwhile, they were to continue in their current postings until the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Odisha and the Director of Public Health approve their new postings.
Although the promotion orders have been issued in writing, no further steps have been taken to implement them. The reasons for this delay are still unclear.
Attempts to contact the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Malkangiri for clarification have not yielded any response.
There are even rumors circulating in intellectual circles that no money has been exchanged, which is allegedly why the promotion orders are being withheld. While this cannot be confirmed, it has certainly become a topic of local discussion and concern.
Now all eyes are on when these 138 health workers will finally receive their rightful postings following their promotions.
