Probe Ordered into No-Confidence Motion Against Block Chairperson

Kotpad,5th Sept 2025: A no-confidence motion submitted against the Block Chairperson of Kundura Block, Koraput district, is currently under investigation by the local Block Development Officer (BDO).

As per the instructions of Jeypore Sub-Collector A. Shasya Reddy, the BDO P. Manasmita today reviewed the no-confidence proposal at the Kundura Panchayat Samiti Office, in the presence of local Sarpanches and Samiti Members.

A total of 14 Sarpanches and 12 Panchayat Samiti Members of the block verified their signatures today in front of the BDO. However, Block Chairperson Rajeshwari Paraja has not yet given any response to the matter.

According to sources, the Block Chairperson has been accused of arbitrary functioning, ignoring elected Samiti members in developmental decision-making. Due to this, 14 out of the 16 Panchayats of the block, along with 12 Samiti members, had submitted a no-confidence motion on 8th of last month to the Jeypore Sub-Collector.

Following this, signature verification of all signatories was carried out today. The Sarpanches and Samiti Members who had signed the motion were present during the verification process and reaffirmed their support for the motion.

There is growing speculation that the Block Chairperson of Kundura may soon be replaced, based on the outcome of this no-confidence proposal.
