Bhubaneswar, 3rd Oct 2025: : Under the Prime Minister’s scheme to provide mobile network connectivity to every village and remote region, special focus has been given to Maoist-affected areas. In line with this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched an indigenous 4G network.
This was inaugurated online from Phuljhar in Lahunipara block of Sundargarh district, Odisha. Around six mobile towers have been installed between Khuntagaon and Sasa, covering the Phuljhar region. As a result, approximately 30 villages now have access to mobile network facilities.
Previously, villagers were deprived of emergency services such as 108 ambulance, 901, and other helplines, and had to travel on their own for medical needs. Now, this long-standing problem has been addressed through the installation of these mobile towers under the PM’s rural network scheme.
Just recently, the Prime Minister had also launched BSNL 4G services in Jharsuguda, showcasing the government’s initiative to connect distant households with their families through mobile voice and data services. About five new BSNL towers have been installed in the area and are functioning smoothly.
As a result, villages like Dhanijam, Ranj, Phuljhar, Sasa, and others—totaling 30 villages—are now enjoying this much-needed connectivity. Villagers expressed happiness, stating that previously there was no network coverage, but now they are getting signals in various parts of the region.
Prime Minister Modi unveiled BSNL’s high-speed 4G network online, and to celebrate the occasion, a procession was organized in Phuljhar.
Key guests at the event included Banai royal prince Brigaraj Pratap Keshari Deo, Banai MLA Laxman Munda, BSNL General Manager K. N. Ray, and several other dignitaries. Around 500 people attended the event.
Meanwhile, a survey is underway to identify more regions that still lack network connectivity, with the aim to extend network access to all such areas in the near future.
